r3v3ng3 mail v1.6.1

An IMAP mail client with two personalities: a polite butler or a full green-phosphor hacker terminal.

r3v3ng3 mail
# README

r3v3ng3 mail is a complete desktop email client for any IMAP account: Gmail, Outlook, iCloud or your own server.

It comes with everything you expect: multiple inboxes, a unified inbox, conversations, rules, auto-reply, folders, drag and drop, multi-select, undo send, address book with import and export, calendar with external Google, iCloud and Outlook calendars, print, PDF and .eml export, backup and restore.

Then there is the fun part. Butler mode reads you new mail with a voice and fancy stationery. Hacker mode turns the whole app into a phosphor terminal with a boot sequence, code rain, decrypting messages and transmit animations.

Anti-phishing warnings flag deceptive links and suspicious senders. Passwords are stored encrypted with Windows data protection, and your mail stays on your provider's server.

# CHANGELOG
1.6.1
- Windows startup option in Settings → General: launch on login (off by default; starts hidden). Old auto-start entries removed on update.
- AI agents: no longer opens the app just for connection checks — responds with its tool list and the app stays closed until mail is actually needed.
- AI agents: new option to allow an agent to open the app if it's closed (on by default).
- Third-party licence and notice files included in the installed directory.

1.6.0 — privacy hardening and AI agents
- Multi-layer tracker protection: network guard blocks internet contacts from incoming messages except images you choose to view. Security rules inside every message, script/iframe/redirect/base-tag/style purge. Tested against a 47-technique trap letter: 0 blocked-image contacts (1.5.0 leaked 13).
- With "Show images" only image requests pass: no cookies, no referrer, generic Chrome identity on Windows (previously detected as Electron).
- Read receipts: if the sender requests one, the app displays a notice but never sends it automatically.
- Trackable parameters stripped from links (utm_, fbclid, gclid, mc_eid…) when you click them; toggleable in Settings → General.
- Automatic redirects inside messages no longer open your browser.
- AI agents: new Agents AI settings tab. Local MCP server (127.0.0.1:47831, token) for Hermes Agent, Claude Desktop, Cursor; "Connect to Hermes Agent" button; bridge that opens the app in background if closed. Tools: mailboxes, folders, listing, search, reading, text attachments, drafts, send, read/receive flags, move, trash, calendar, address book.
- Agent security: off by default; send only with user confirmation (or never / without asking); no permanent deletion; no access to passwords and settings; external images never loaded for the agent; email text marked as "untrusted" against hidden instructions; 🤖 indicator in the bar and action log.
- Improved search reliability on servers that mishandle combined searches.

1.5.0 — auto-update
- New version check on launch and every 6 hours: asks r3v3ng3.dev for the latest version, shows a prompt with "Update now", "Later" or "Skip this version", and an ⬆️ arrow in the bar.
- "Update now" downloads the installer from the site, verifies SHA-256, closes, updates and reopens — mailboxes and settings preserved.
- Settings → General → Updates: toggle auto-check on/off, "Check now" button.

1.4.2
- Self-update: the installer updates in place and reopens the program
- Letters that opened empty after sleep or a network change recover automatically

1.4.1
- Duplicate a mailbox: copies all settings, you only enter the new address and password

1.4.0 right-click menu on messages, iPhone/Mac attachments, clean outgoing mail

1.3.1 readable newsletters in hacker mode, per-sender images

1.3.0 hacker mode

1.2.0 address book, conversations, rules, calendars
